American businesses that are trying to deal with a strong foreign currency are also trying to deal with strong foreign cultures. And that's our last word in business today. It comes from an internal memo sent by managers at Google. It's aimed at Google company recruiters in Asia.
The memo is a reminder that this week many countries celebrate the Lunar New Year. It asks recruiters to hold off on sending rejection letters around the New Year because it's considered bad luck to receive bad news during the New Year. Apparently bad news during the holiday could carry into the rest of the year, which is, by the way, the year of the rat. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
