A new poll shows Californians still haven’t made up their minds about several statewide ballot measures in November’s election. The California Business Roundtable and Pepperdine University conducted an online poll where participants could see each measure’s title and summary.
Of the high profile tax initiatives, fifty-six percent of Californians approve of Governor Jerry Brown’s Proposition 30. Only thirty-nine percent oppose.
Chris Condon led the research on the poll. He said only thirty-five percent of voters approve of Proposition 38, the tax initiative backed by wealthy education advocate Molly Munger.
“This is being opposed pretty much across the board all education levels, all regions, all ethnic groups. I think people are seeing this as a tax on me,” said Condon.
Only four ballot initiatives show at least sixty percent support. Those include increasing human sex trafficking penalties, preventing unions from deducting political contributions from paychecks, revamping the state’s three strikes sentencing law, and mandatory labeling for genetically modified foods.
