One Book, One San Diego 2022 Virtual Teen Author Event with Trung Le Nguyen

Please join KPBS and our partners for a special live virtual event with Trung Le Nguyen, author of our 2022 One Book, One San Diego teen selection, "The Magic Fish."

A 2021 winner of two Harvey Awards and named one of the best books of the year by The New York Public Library, “The Magic Fish" is a beautifully illustrated YA graphic novel that deals with the complexity of family and how stories can bring us together. It follows the life of a young, queer Vietnamese boy struggling to share his sexuality while teaching his mother English through fairy tales. "The Magic Fish" tackles tough subjects in a way that is accessible to readers of all ages, and teaches us that no matter what—we can all have our own happy endings.

One Book, One San Diego is a partnership, led by KPBS, with the San Diego Public Library, the San Diego County Library, San Diego State University, One Book Sin Fronteras and more than 30 others.
