Tom Fudge : The election ballot in California is a grab bag of items. Two of them, on the statewide ballot, are Props 7 and 10.

Supporters say those measures will make California a cleaner, more progressive place when it comes to using alternative energy. But they are both controversial. Critics say that one, while well-intentioned, would create a set of confusing and counterproductive requirements for energy use. They say the other is scheme by special interests to grab a larger share of the energy market.
