The United Nations' AIDS agency has announced a drop in its estimates of the number of people who are infected with the AIDS virus around the world.
Madeleine Brand speaks to Karen Stanecki, senior adviser on demographics at the agency, about the report.
New data suggest there are about 33 million global AIDS cases, down from nearly 40 million as cited in the agency's 2006 report. Stanecki cites a reassessment of HIV in India for the drop.
