Al-Qaida in Iraq has been blamed for several recent bombings in Iraq, but a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad says the attacks do not represent an upward trend in overall violence.
The military says violence is down by 60 percent, although Rear Adm. Gregory Smith cautioned that the fight with al-Qaida in Iraq is not over.
