The Justice Department and the CIA announced Saturday that they will conduct a joint inquiry into the spy agency's destruction of the videotapes of interrogations of two suspected terrorists.
The CIA has admitted it destroyed hundreds of hours of videotape showing the interrogation of the al-Qaida detainees.
The tapes were destroyed at a time of national debate over interrogation practices involving suspected terrorists. Congress has since passed legislation that prohibits torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of all U.S. detainees, including those in CIA custody.
The tapes' destruction could make the prosecution of terror suspects difficult.
Ari Shapiro and Andrea Seabrook discuss the destruction of the tapes and the potential impact on prosecutions.
