  • Don’t miss the free Downtown Chula Vista Block Party on Friday, July 8, from 4 to 9 p.m. on historic Third Avenue between E Street and Park Way. This kick-off to summer event will feature a low rider car show, multiple vendors, live music, entertainment, children’s fun zone, and more. A highlight of the event will be recognition of Chula Vista Champions for their diverse contributions to the community at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage near E Street. The City will recognize more than 3,000 individuals/groups for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other community, scholastic and athletic achievements. In addition to the above activities, at 6:40 p.m., there will be a San Diego Padres Watch Party on a giant screen located on the corner of Third Avenue and Davidson Street. The Padres vs Giants game also will be aired in many Third Avenue businesses. Several food and snack trucks will be on hand for food purchases or visit one of the many restaurants or breweries along Third Avenue. The Sesame Place Children’s Fun Zone will have activities for the little ones and a Prize Patrol will be giving random lucky winners two free tickets to Sesame Place.   • The California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University, is hosting its Psychopharmacology Speaker Series where expert faculty member Dr. Judith Steinman will be hosting the virtual webinar on the important topic of Psychopharmacology in the Post-Pandemic Era. This series, which will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022 at 6 p.m., will discuss research on the long-term effects of COVID-19 focusing on the neurological sequelae, or syndromes, emerging in those with long-haul COVID-19. Experts break down what the data shows us about the neurological damage these patients have sustained, and how psychotropic medication either can help or hinder recovery. Based out of Conrad Prebys Learning Center and sprawling into terraces and galleries, we invite you to join us in learning about the art and lives of the Native people who have inhabited San Diego. In celebration of Native American Heritage month, play, create, and learn about the Kumeyaay life in La Jolla and San Diego’s coastal regions. Help us commemorate and learn about the native people who continue to steward the lands we live on. Make a pinch pot with locally sourced clay and fill it with the seeds of native plants! With each step, we’ll provide information on coloring pages that you can staple into your zine.
