Moonlight Beach Concert: Lolo Paniolo & Kehulili O Kailani Dancers Toes in the sand--what better way to enjoy a summer concert? Moonlight Beach is the place to be all summer, and twice a month in July and August, the City's Cultural Arts Division brings great performers to the stage. Musical styles vary and may include everything from Latin jazz and country western to reggae and '80s rock. Bands play on a state of the art professional stage in front of a large sandy beach, with plenty of room to move with the music. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Resonance is a free, all-ages event hosted by St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church and Oceanside Theatre Company, that builds community through creative expression. Held in OTC's Studio 219 (219 North Coast Highway), this is a space for all creatively-inclined people — artists, musicians, writers, and more — to showcase their work and to practice spontaneous creation together. It’s not quite an open mic, jam session, drum circle, or art night — but it has elements of all of these. All are welcome to participate as much or as little as they choose. Sherry Hopwood will direct an ensemble cast in bringing this groundbreaking piece of lesbian history to life - a powerful play by Dian Schaffhauser that celebrates the vibrant and resilient lesbian community in San Diego from 1970 to 2000. This production is more than just a performance; it's a tribute to the stories, struggles, and triumphs of those who helped pave the way for LGBTQ+ rights. Based on hundreds of oral interviews, The Lesbians of San Diego has been dedicated to documenting the stories of local lesbians through an oral history project. This production is the next evolution of that work, ensuring that these narratives are not just archived, but embodied, experienced, and honored in a way that makes history feel immediate and alive. This play is more than a performance. It is an act of historical reclamation, an assertion of presence, and a feminist insistence that the contributions of lesbians to our collective liberation will not be erased or forgotten. These are the stories that may never have reached a newspaper or the public eye, yet they are the stories that created an incredible culture of art, music, political activism, health advocacy and more - pushing the boundaries and carving out a safe place for our community. "Access" is a group exhibition featuring material and conceptual works by multidisciplinary artists Carolina Danu, Yena Kim, Nanzi Muro, and Gabrielle Berens. "Access" includes MFA students from San Diego State University who believe in the need for diversity in the arts. Through printmaking, textiles, ceramics, digital graphics, illustrations, paintings, and woven sculpture, the selected works celebrate the evolving practices of these emerging artists and will serve to inspire the possibilities of material expression. The title of the exhibition, "Access," represents access to arts education, access to facilities, access to community, as well as access to expression through a variety of media and materials.
