  • You can’t buy love – but maybe you can drink it! Gaetano Donizetti’s beloved opera "The Elixir of Love (L’elisir d’amore)" is a classic romantic comedy, called “opera buffa” in Italian. Set in the Basque Country, it’s a charming story of five colorful characters: Nemorino, a simple, sincere peasant; Adina, a beautiful, wealthy landowner; Belcore, a dashing, pompous sergeant; Dr. Dulcamara, a charlatan medicine man; and Gianetta, the village gossip. Nemorino loves Adina, who mocks his infatuation. When Sergeant Belcore arrives to court Adina, Nemorino finds a solution as Dr. Dulcamara comes to town peddling his potions. Dulcamara sells the unsuspecting Nemorino an Elixir of Love, which is just wine. Can the elixir work some magic after all? Cinballera Entertainment presents this opera in concert at the Villa Montezuma with piano, highlighting the five soloists, Alexis Alfaro, Tiffany Brannan, Igor Vieira, Bryan Dahl, and Rebekah Brannan.
