The Sixties Show is from NYC and is The Greatest 1960’s Musical Re-Creation Show on Earth. The band features former band members of The Who and John Fogarty. This popular theater show is a cross generational crowd pleaser and has been selling out virtually every theater and performing arts center that the show plays at. The band is widely celebrated and known for re-creating spot on, note for note re-creations of the hits, B-sides and deep album cuts from the greatest songs of the 1960’s. A performance about aging and the weight of being human. Performed by Esther Gamez-Rubio, Martha Rolón de la Peña, Wilfrido Terrazas, and Ivan Trujillo. This extended collaborative work explores the evolving nature of the body—how it ages, expands, and transforms. Inspired by the writings of philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy, the performance unfolds as a corporeal meditation on identity, form, and the limits of physical being. Each performer—including Gámez Rubio, Martha Rolón de la Peña (clarinet/saxophone), Iván Trujillo Luna (trumpet), and Wilfrido Terrazas (flute)—offers a solo improvisation before coming together in a final group performance that blends sound, movement, projection, and textile. Explore ceramic handbuilding & funky glazes! Mondays, June 9, 16, 23, 30, July 14 From 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes, slips, glaze, and various experimental materials. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course with an artistic and creative approach to decorative designs. Inspired by printmaking, painting and drawing, we will explore image transfers, mark making, layering, stencils, and more! Through the use of technique and materials, students will explore the fusion of 2D art and 3D form. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. The instructor will have a wide array of custom decorative materials for use and sale. All materials provided. Additional materials available via the instructor for a fee. Explore natural dye color! Sunday, June 1, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. In this 2-hour workshop, explore eco-bundle dye, the art of infusing natural pigments onto fibers. Join fiber artist Jeanine Ertl and share in the ephemeral, mindful and magical beauty of this serendipitous dye process. You will learn about the gentle, fleeting nature of a diverse array of botanical and kitchen dyes while completing the process from start to finish—mordanting bundling, steaming and finishing. Each student will create two unique silk or cotton squares or scarves. Colors will shift and change before your eyes as you place natural dyestuffs, steam, unroll, and enjoy! And while bundles steam, we will talk about exploring the potential dyes in our homes, gardens and local area. Students are welcome to bring in their favorite flowers to explore using in your bundle. Each participant will leave with a booklet on the Eco-Bundle Dye process and two bundle dyed pieces. Ages 12+ years welcome, or 8+ years with an adult. As we accompany Jeff on his odyssey, we are immersed in the depths of his past, including his experiences in the military and are granted access to his own personal traumas. Tecate Community Museum, Tecate, Baja Mexico (U.S. side meeting location - In front of Baja Duty Free - 404 Tecate Rd, Tecate, California 91980) Saturday, July 26, 2025 Kumeyaay Pine Needle Basketry Workshop: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Since the late 1800s, Native artisans of Baja California and southern California have created beautiful baskets woven from pine needles, sometimes incorporating strips of palm fiber, juncus rush or other natural fibers. The pine needles not only have the aroma of a mountain forest, the base of the pine needle cluster can also be used to create striking designs. Join us for a hands-on, one-day workshop, a rare opportunity to learn the whole process of traditional pine needle basket weaving directly from Kumeyaay master weavers, including preparing the plant fibers, creating designs and making your own basket medallion to take home. The $60 cost of the workshop includes pine needles and other materials, lunch and translation throughout the workshop. You may also provide a scholarship for an indigenous student to attend.
