One of our experts will help you evaluate, diagnose, and fix it if they can. · Workshops. Upcycle your plain (light-colored) garments and fabrics into original, colorful creations at the Tie-Dye Workshop. Mend garments as well. · Live Entertainment. All-day performances include the Bob Marley tribute band One Drop Redemption and DJ/host DJ A-One, with more entertainment to come. · Dozens of Green Vendors. This Saturday, March 1, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Learn foldforming and the art of patinas with award-winning metal artist and blacksmith, Pat Downing. In this all-day class, students will learn about safety, tools, and the basic methods of both foldforming and patinas. The class will consist of 3 hours of forming techniques and 3 hours focusing on patinas, with a one-hour lunch break. This is a hands-on techniques class designed to show how one can achieve folds and then apply patinas to finished pieces. In this class, students will work in copper, but the methods taught can be used in almost any metal and size, from jewelry to public art. What to bring: BYF (bring your favorite) hammer & safety glasses, if you have them. If not, you can borrow from ours. Students are welcome to bring a lunch to eat at the studio or nearby, or may purchase lunch nearby (there are many options in Liberty Station). Materials fee of $10 (cash only) to be paid to the instructor at the start of the class and includes copper and patinas. This class is appropriate for ages 18 years and older. No prior experience necessary. Learn to Weave with Silk! Saturday, March 15, 1-5 p.m. In instructor Jeanine Ertl’s class, students will weave together in a space of colorful creativity and openness. She will provide instruction on weaving, a warped lap loom and a rainbow of recycled sari silk ribbon and yarn fibers to ignite your imagination. And we’ll weave together, learning and playing with the basics of the process from start to finish, each creating a unique handwoven that can be hung or draped, according to your desires. Please feel free to bring any items you may want to incorporate into your weaving, like interesting fibers, foraged and gathered natural objects, shells with holes, beads, etc. you may want to incorporate into your weaving. Each Weaver will complete a one-of-a-kind Handwoven Wall Hanging. In addition, if you find that you’re in love with the practice, you will have an option to purchase the loom you are working with, as well as additional fiber and tools to continue at home. Come explore mindfully making in a space of creativity & harmony with others. No experience necessary.
