NIH cuts put San Diego’s $57B life sciences sector at risk

The Trump administration is threatening 40 percent cuts to the National Institutes of Health. The NIH is the world’s premier biomedical research agency and sends millions of dollars to San Diego facilities like the Salk Institute and UC San Diego. As KPBS reporter Alexander Nguyen shows us, local leaders say these cuts are draconian and will undo years of medical research.
