From Camarada:
We are honored to continue our adventure as Artists-In-Residence at the Mingei. Join us for stellar chamber music at the newly reopened, remodeled and extraordinary Mingei International Museum in heart of Balboa Park. Mingle while you browse fantastical exhibitions before the concerts.
Iluminacion is a ceremony where hundreds of candles are lit to guide souls during Dia de los Muertos. Camarada’s new season at the renovated Mingei International Museum is designed to lift your spirits and soar beyond the concert experience. The journey begins with a chamber version of Danse Macabre by Saint Saëns followed by the impassioned Concertino for flute, viola, and double bass by Erwin Schulhoff. Two American composers James Stephenson and Bill Douglas showcase their Latin zest with Mexican Folklore Suite and Salsa Cantando. Miguel del Aguila’s Conga-Line in Hell complete this feast with sly Latin American dance rhythms over a repeating and haunting piano motif.
