A new Web site lets San Diego residents look up detailed crime statistics for any neighborhood in the county. Local law enforcement officials unveiled the Crime MAPS Program Monday.
Crimes appear as colorful icons on interactive maps of the region. Users can search by ZIP code, school district, or street corner.
Chula Vista Police Chief Rick Emerson says the program will make the community safer.
Emerson: "We think we are going to have a community members that are much more knowledgeable about crime and quality of life issues and we think that that will enhance public safety in this entire region."
The map can be found on the Web site www.arjis.org under the crime maps link.
