The debate over sewage treatment in Mexico continues to heat up in Washington. The disagreement is between San Diego Democratic Congressman Bob Filner and members of the International Boundary and Water Commission .
The proposed Bajagua Project would treat Tijuana's sewage problem as well as prevent health hazards for San Diego residents near the Tijuana River. The commission says the project is behind schedule and should be abandoned, but Filner supports it.
Filner : The sewage would be treated to get water for use in Mexico. Whether it's for commercial, irrigation, or agricultural purposes. Mexico is in desperate need of water, and this will give them reclaimed water, in abundance.
Congressman Filner spoke on "These Days" on KPBS earlier today.
