Teen Critic on Baby Mama

Baby Mama
SNL alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler star in Baby Mama (Universal)

By Jessica Stinson

The Michael McCullers directed film Baby Mama (opening April 25 throughout San Diego), starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler is a comedy about a 37-year-old business woman who's been focused on her career rather then on her personal life. Now in the midst of a big business deal, Kate (Tina Fey) realizes she's missing a baby in her life. On the road to various ways of conception, she finds that she cannot conceve and her only chance of being a mother is through a surrogate mother, Angie (Amy Poehler), who's her total opposite. When the unlikely surrogate mother becomes pregnant and leaves her husband, she shows up at Kate's door with no place to go and the baby mama drama begins.

As a huge fan of comedy I knew I had to see this film just after viewing the trailer. If you liked comedies such as Knocked Up or SuperBad you will enjoy this film as well. Although the plot is the typical uptight-meets-outgoing-and-carefree-person, it kept me laughing throughout the film. However, I was a little dissapointed in the ending because it was so predictable.

Baby Mama is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor, language and a drug reference.

Ever since the preview of this movie, I've wanted to view it. I really liked how you explained in detail but yet didn't sugarcoat the story. I wouldn't mind going to see this film. I love comedies, and sounds like you enjoyed this one. Good Job.

I have not seen the movie but if you compared it to Superbad then it must be good. I am a fan of comedies and I thought Superbad was hilarious. I have seen the trailer to Baby Mama and it looks pretty funny, the way you describe it. if it looks funny and sounds funny, than it must be funny.

I thought this was a great movie. you didn't leave anything out. you explained the movie without giving away some good parts of the movie. yeah getting towards the end of the movie it started to get a little slow, but the movie was still good. i think they could add some more comedy into it. i thought it was kind of messed up when angie and her boyfriend lied about her being pregnant, so they can get the money. but i agree with you about the end. it was so predictable. i wish they would of ended it a different way. great job on this review jessica.

well personally i believe that this movie will be great. not only will it inspire student females and males it will also inspire parents to be. this movie will be great because it is life and it is known to be happening in our world today. it is aslo a way for the audience to be informed about serregant mothering and how it helps out females that cant concieve. this movie according to the preview review also explains that the movie includes comedy so it is also a good way to laugh with the family.
