Many people will soon begin their holiday trips this weekend. KPBS reporter Katie Orr found out what you can expect at Lindbergh Field in the days ahead.
The airport will likely see about 50 thousand passengers through January fourth. Spokeswoman Shari Shipley says that’s on par with last year. And while San Diego doesn’t get much snow, she says weather conditions are still a factor.
Shipley: If it’s raining or if it’s very foggy I would definitely call ahead and see if their flight’s are gonna be on time. Because in November we had that one period right around Thanksgiving where we had an awful lot of fog. And about 80 flights were cancelled during that time.
There’s new service for travelers this year. On the 19 th and 23 rd , passengers who’ve had to unwrap presents to get them though security can re-wrap them for free at stations set up by the airport.
