U.S. Men's National Soccer Team Defeats Guatemala At Qualcomm Stadium

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Landon Donovan scored two of five second-half goals in his first game with the U.S. men's national soccer team since August in a 6-0 victory over Guatemala in an exhibition game at Qualcomm Stadium tonight.

Donovan scored on a 55th-minute penalty kick and in the 72nd minute off a pass from Stuart Holden. The two goals increased Donovan's record total with the national team to 51.

Chris Wondolowski (71st minute), Clarence Goodson (84th minute) and Alejandro Bedoya (88th minute) also scored in the second half in the team's first game in San Diego since 2006.

Herculez Gomez scored the lone first-half goal in the 42nd minute off Jose Torres' pass before a crowd announced at 25,080.

The U.S. led 12-5 in shots and 11-0 in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Nick Rimando did not need to make a save to record the shutout.

Guatemalan goalkeeper Ricardo Jerez made five saves.

The U.S. leads its series against Guatemala, 14-4-6, including a 14-0-6 record since a 1-0 loss on Jan. 10, 1988. The U.S. is 12-0-1 against Guatemala in the U.S.

The victory was the U.S.' first in San Diego after five losses and two ties.
