Scared Straight To The Animal Shelter
Did your dog run away due to fireworks this Fourth of July?
Nearly 100 dogs were brought in to county animal shelters after running away from home this Independence Day — three times what shelters see during a normal weekend.
“Check shelters across your neighborhood. Dogs don’t know boundaries and a dog in its sheer terror may have run from your community into another city, so check that shelter as well,” said Dan DeSousa, Department of Animal Services deputy director.
Owners of lost pets should call 619-767-2675 or visit the Department of Animal Services website and use the “lost and found” questionnaire.
