Before heading home from battle in Afghanistan or Iraq, Marines based overseas will get schooled on the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" repeal. Major General Richard Mills today said the troops' education will consist of "formal classes, discussion groups and 'extensive' training," according to the Associated Press. The people who will teach the classes will get their own training on how to do that in the next few weeks. Mills held a news conference today with reporters by telephone from the Helmand Province in Afghanistan:
"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was the 17-year-old law that forbade gays, lesbians, and bisexuals from serving openly in the military. President Obama signed the repeal of DADT into law last December.
