Revolutionising mental health care with integrative approaches The Integrative Medicine for Mental Health (IMMH) Conference returns September 11–14, 2025 in San Diego Taking place September 11–14, 2025 at the award-winning Town and Country Resort in San Diego, California, this four-day, in-person event (virtual tickets also available) brings together over 1000 globally recognized experts, as well as seasoned and beginning practitioners in integrative mental health and functional medicine psychiatry to transform mental health care. Wet felting fun! Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Join us for a creative time around wool and fellowship! In this 3-hour workshop you will learn the ancient art of wet felting — the process of loose wool becoming a fabric (felt). This textile art technique has been used for millenniums in the making of rugs, clothing, and homes (yurts). Instructor Sylviane Collier will demonstrate the technique, taking you step-by-step through the project and providing guidance along the way so you may enjoy the creative process and let your inner artist take the lead. First, you will create your own picture by layering wool fibers (you will have a wide selection of dyed merino wool to choose from) to finish with the binding of all the fibers using a wet felting technique. We will use bamboo mats, water and soap for the felting process. It is not a messy process, just a wet one. Towels will be provided. Each student will create a one-of-a-kind 8”x 8” “painting.” Images of flowers, landscapes and animals will be provided for inspiration. Students are also welcome to bring their own. A material fee of $10 (cash only) to be paid to the instructor at the start of the class. No prior experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! In this 2-hour workshop, our composting experts will guide you through an introduction to the bokashi method (the word "bokashi" is a Japanese term meaning fermented organic matter) as well as the basics of traditional backyard composting. Using trial-tested advice and demonstrations, our experienced educators will teach you all you need to know about incorporating bokashi into your backyard compost pile. In this workshop, we will cover: What is bokashi and how does it work? The benefits of using the bokashi method What is composting, and why is it so important? A bold new theatrical experience is set to debut in San Diego offering audiences a chance to step back in time and into the shoes of one of the city’s most overlooked historical figures. "Thorn & Petal", an immersive, interactive stage production, tells the story of Louis Rose, a German-Jewish immigrant and visionary who helped shape the early identity of San Diego in the mid-1800s. "Thorn & Petal" is written and produced by Daniel Redman and directed by Dr. Katie B. Turner, Assistant Director of SDSU School of Theatre, Television, and Film, and founder of The Actor’s Place. It runs from September 12-21 at Trinity Theatre Company in the Mission Valley Mall. Before the 163, before the familiar skyline, there was a pioneer with a vision. Arriving in a nascent San Diego, Louis Rose wasn't just one of its earliest developers; he was its first identifiable Jewish settler, weaving his cultural thread into the fabric of a growing town. Witness his incredible story, from his arrival to the unexpected challenge that thrust him into the city's making. With a blend of humor, heart, and historical insight, "Thorn & Petal" is a celebration of community, resilience, and the joy of creation. Playwright Daniel Redman shared, “This play is about more than one man’s journey. It’s about the universal experience of building something meaningful together.
