  • Join us for the 5th annual Pucks & Pints charity hockey game & beer festival held on April 8, 2023! Pucks & Pints is a full day of hockey & craft beer for a purpose! All proceeds raised are donated to local charities with last year being our highest earnings yet, donating over $20,000! The action all goes down on Saturday, April 8, starting at 1 p.m. for a day filled with hockey, craft beer, BBQ & more hockey. All benefitting a number of great causes! Tickets are only $60 (plus ticket fees) which include your admission to the Brewers Charity game, access to the Craft Beer Festival with food from Phil's BBQ provided & craft beer from local breweries, along with a ticket to the San Diego Gulls vs. Calgary Wranglers professional hockey game! This year we've been given a new location for hosting our Craft Beer Festival, being held at Modern Times Warehouse, 3216 Kurtz Street. This space is bigger & better than ever, providing more space, and more fun, with an even closer walk to Sports Arena! Due to permitting requirements by the State, this year’s beer and BBQ portion of the event must be 21+ only. Children are still welcome to attend both the brewers' hockey game at 1 p.m. as well as the Gulls game at 7 p.m. but will not be admitted to the festival at Modern Times. Timeline of event: 12:30-1 p.m. - Check-in at the Brewers Charity game outside at the Pechanga Arena Westside entrance. 1-2:30 p.m. - Cheer on players representing breweries & brewpubs from all across the county in the Brewers Charity game.   • Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is pleased to present “Ocean/Earth/Air” a juried art & poetry regional show about our beautiful, fragile and fascinating world. 100 artists from across California will be selected to showcase their work on the environmental theme during the month of April 2023 with the reception on Sunday, April 23 of Earth Day weekend from 1 - 4 p.m. There will be art and poetry award and poetry readings at the reception and a concert from the locally renown Mission Hills high school band “The Preservationists” fresh from their concert in Japan. Surfing Madonna Oceans Project wants to spread our message of hope and appreciation for the ocean and support the arts. We believe that creating art and public appreciation of art increases cognitive abilities and eases anxiety and depression in these difficult times. Art can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Encinitas, California and was officially formed in 2013 by Robert Nichols and Mark Patterson (artist of the Surfing Madonna mosaic).   • Second Chance Beer Company, the award-winning “Seize a Pint, Save a Pup” brewery in Carmel Mountain, is hosting its 3rd-Annual Pupapalooza Dog Festival on Saturday, May 20 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Pupapalooza will have more than 20 locally-owned dog-themed vendors on hand, adoptable pups from The Animal Pad dog rescue organization, food trucks, and live music. The event is free to attend, though there is a Gold VIP option for $150 and a Silver VIP option for $125. The packages include a 10-minute professional photo session for pets in a Puppy Picnic Co. set-up, along with gift bags and other items. For the first time in the event’s history, Second Chance will be releasing a special beer specifically for the festivities: Guava Wheat Ale (4.5% ABV) that will be available on draft and in 16-oz cans. Regarded as one of the most dog-friendly establishments in all of San Diego, Second Chance will donate proceeds from the event to The Animal Pad. As always, 1% of sales of Second Chance’s core beers Buddy Lager and New Day West Coast IPA that day will be donated to dog rescue organizations as well.   • Russell Peters was recently named as one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Comics of All Time. He started doing stand-up at the age of nineteen at open mics in his native Toronto, and spent the next fifteen years honing his craft at clubs across Canada and the UK. In 2004, Peters gained critical and global recognition for his CTV “Comedy Now!” special and soon became the first comedian to sell-out Toronto’s Air Canada Centre in 2007. Peters went on to set attendance records at venues from Madison Square Garden to The Sydney Opera House to London’s O2 Arena – where he broke the UK attendance record for highest number of tickets sold for an individual comedy show. His subsequent tours were captured in his successful specials broadcast on Showtime and "Comedy Central: Outsourced" in 2006; "Red, White and Brown" in 2008; and, "The Green Card" Tour in 2010. In 2013, Peters became the first comedian to create a Netflix Original Comedy Special. Peters’ most recent tour, "The Deported" World Tour was seen by over 400,000 fans in 40 cities across 20 countries and culminated in the stand-up special, Russell Peters Deported on Amazon Prime in January 2020. Peters has been awarded Gemini, Peabody, Emmy and Canadian Screen Awards for his hosting, producing and acting talents. His last TV series, "The Indian Detective" set a Canadian viewership record for Bell Media /CTV in 2017 and was released globally on Netflix. Peters just launched his own Podcast, "Culturally Cancelled with Russell Peters" on iHeart Media / Cloud 10 and is currently developing a TV series based on his childhood in Canada in the 1980’s as well as executive producing the TV series "Late Bloomer" with YouTube sensation Jus Reign. Peters will also be seen later this year in the feature film, "Clifford The Big Red Dog" for Paramount Pictures. Peters resides in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. When not on tour he spends every day with his nine-year-old daughter, Crystianna and newborn son, Russell Santiago. He has a blue belt with three stripes in Jiu Jitsu and is an ardent DJ and hip-hop junkie who tries to get on the turntables for at least a few minutes every day.
