How to visit: The exhibition opens with a reception for the artist: 5-8 p.m. Saturday October 21. Gallery will be open at 1 pm. for early viewing. On view through November 22, 2023. Gallery Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday Contact: Phone: 858.459.3917 rbstevensongallery@sbcglobal.net "Still life painting is a questioning of beauty in light of our immediate reality. These paintings begin with imagery of current events that are depictions of destruction, violence, and death in the initial underpainting process as a way to influence, contradict and subvert the act of observation and the painting process as well as the final opposing representation of the beauty of nature. These contradictory images exist simultaneously to engage in a conversation in the seen and the unseen or forgotten. At the same time challenging, yet playful compositional choices are meant to break with traditional still life and illusionistic representational effects are intentionally brought up short by the physical nature of the paint itself. Drips and splatters, dabs and smears, paint does what paint does." -Stephen P. Curry Related links: R.B. Stevenson Gallery website | Instagram | Facebook

  • Workshop conducted by Award-winning Author and Spiritual Teacher Dimitri Moraitis Eastern mystical training emphasizes the highest aspiration is reaching the Ultimate Reality that exists behind the veil of physical life. Buddhism teaches of Nirvana. The Tao teaches of a return to the source from where all life springs. Hindu metaphysics teaches of attaining enlightenment and uniting with Brahman—the ocean of life. Yet in the Western mystical teachings, there is the emphasis on reaching God. The three great monotheistic traditions—Judaism, Christianity and Islam—all emphasize God is the goal of life. As spiritual truth seekers, how do we incorporate these two universal perspectives in our soul growth? One of the glories of the modern age is an understanding that the traditions of the East and the West are essentially different facets of the same precious jewel. By understanding the underlying unity of these traditions, we gain a deeper, more mature understanding of life, God, and our place in the divine scheme. Drawing from The Kingdom of Light Teachings, Dimitri offers fresh insights as to how the mystical aim of God and the Ultimate Reality are both essential to unlock the potential of the soul and serve in the divine plan. Discover meditative techniques with Divine Light to help you be more effective and energetic in life’s pursuits, as well as feel more engaged and purposeful in all you do. $35 / As we are a non-profit, donations welcomed. Offered online and In-person on Saturday, December 9 from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. PT In-person location: Spiritual Arts Institute 527 Encinitas Blvd, Suite 206 Encinitas, CA 92024 DIMITRI MORAITIS is cofounder and co-spiritual director of the renowned Spiritual Arts Institute.
