Learn to needle felt! Saturday, July 12, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Have you ever wished you’d stumble upon a tiny fairy house while walking in a deep forest? Join felting artist Sophie Ancel in this 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn to make your own little house using needle felting techniques. Students will use natural wool roving and batting, felt, beads and simple embroidery. The class requires the use of sharp felting needles and we will cover how to safely use felting needles. Guards will also be provided. Each student will have the option of creating a tiny home equipped with a door, window, and decorated with flowers and leaves. This little home can be used as a box as the roof can act as a lid! You will be given a tiny light for added fairy house magic. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome. Mission Fed ArtWalk – San Diego’s original fine art festival – will fill the streets of San Diego’s Little Italy district with more than 250 visual artists, four music stages, interactive art for families, food and fun, This year, the 41st annual event, Mission Fed ArtWalk is the largest and longest-running fine art festival in Southern California bringing a weekend-long celebration of arts and culture to San Diego’s Little Italy. The free annual festival attracts locals and visitors to San Diego’s Little Italy, giving all an opportunity to meet more than 250 local, national, and international artists, and purchase art directly from the artists. The event boasts artists from every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, glass work, photography, fine jewelry and more. After browsing and purchasing one-of-a-kind works of art, attendees can enjoy four stages of live music, interactive art experiences, street food, family-friendly art projects at KidsWalk and more. Visions Museum of Textile Art (VMOTA), a non-profit organization that celebrates and advances contemporary quilting and textile art, proudly hosts its inaugural Threads of Time fundraiser event that will be held at its museum that is located in the Arts District Liberty Station. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the public is invited to participate in this event which is more than just a fundraiser; it is an opportunity to come together as a community, experience the creativity of wearable art, and connect over shared stories, food, and laughter. The event will include the following: · A Wearable Art Show, featuring garments inspired by historical events and reimagined for modern expression. · A Hands-On Art Engagement, where community members can create and explore textile art firsthand. · A lively atmosphere of gathering over delicious food and drinks, fostering meaningful connections. · Silent and Live Auctions, showcasing a stunning collection of artwork, experiences, and exclusive items, all to support our goal of raising necessary funds to empower artists and sustain our mission. The event starts at 5:30 pm with delicious food and drinks along with an art engagement where attendees can create and explore textile art firsthand. A wearable art show, featuring garments inspired by historical events and reimagined for modern expression from Mesa Fashion Program at Mesa College.
