The City of Carlsbad’s popular EGGstravaganza Spring Festival returns. This annual spring event features Carlsbad’s largest egg hunt, an ongoing egg scramble where kids race to collect candy-filled eggs. Don't forget to bring your basket! Face-painting, crafts, cookie decorating, a fun zone, soak the bunny and more. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Activity cards and wristbands can be purchased in advance or at the event to enjoy the activities and fun zone. No registration is needed to attend this event. How the egg scramble works The egg scramble is ongoing from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or until eggs run out. To keep the scramble fun for all ages, one field will be designated for children ages 6 and over who want to race for their eggs, and an identical one will be for children ages 5 and under. There is also a noncompetitive field for young children, children with special needs, and for families wanting to pose for a photo opportunity. To avoid lines during the event, $8 activity cards and $8 unlimited inflatables wristbands can be purchased in advance at city community centers. The cards can be divided among multiple children for all the activities; however, wristbands are per person. Over The Line (OTL) World Championship Over-the-Line (OTL) is a unique beach softball game that originated in San Diego. In this game, two teams of three players each compete to hit the ball over a line about 55 feet in front of the batter. Unlike traditional softball, OTL is played without bases, and the team that scores the most runs wins. The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) hosts the annual World Championship Over-the-Line Tournament, which takes place on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay. The tournament is held over two weekends in July and attracts hundreds of thousands of players and spectators worldwide. It has been a San Diego tradition for 70 years and is known for its carefree, daytime, adults-only atmosphere. Teams dress up in costumes and bring tents, chairs, beer, and hilarious signs to the beach for the event. The OTL tournament is held in a public place and therefore there are no age restrictions. Due to some content and sport activity we suggest that attendees be 18 years of age or older. We are no longer working a shuttle from the surrounding areas but we do support rideshare programs and have designated drop off/pick up locations.
