The Navy’s 38th Annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program. The unique 4-mile run/walk has a one-of-a-kind spectacular panoramic view as participants make their way to Coronado’s beautiful Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge. During the finish line celebration, runners receive a Finisher’s medal, event T-shirt, and enjoy sponsor booths. Plus, all participants are eligible for drawing prizes and complimentary transportation back to downtown. This is a sanctioned USAT&F 4-mile course. Our start line is at One Park Blvd. at Harbor Dr. between the Hilton San Diego Bayfront and the San Diego Convention Center. The course travels south along Harbor Dr. to Cesar E. Chavez Pkwy. Participants head east to National Ave., then up and over the Coronado Bay Bridge. The race finishes in Coronado’s Tidelands Park. Expect flat streets, an incline up the bridge and a decline down the bridge. Walkers are encouraged to bring cameras to take some great photos of San Diego and Coronado from on top of the bridge! Baby strollers, wheelchairs and guide dogs are permitted. Skateboards, bikes, in-line skates, race wheelchairs and pets (with the exception of service animals) are prohibited. All participants must be on the bridge by 8:45 a.m., approximately 1 mile, to allow for the reopening of traffic lanes. Over The Line (OTL) World Championship Over-the-Line (OTL) is a unique beach softball game that originated in San Diego. In this game, two teams of three players each compete to hit the ball over a line about 55 feet in front of the batter. Unlike traditional softball, OTL is played without bases, and the team that scores the most runs wins. The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) hosts the annual World Championship Over-the-Line Tournament, which takes place on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay. The tournament is held over two weekends in July and attracts hundreds of thousands of players and spectators worldwide. It has been a San Diego tradition for 70 years and is known for its carefree, daytime, adults-only atmosphere. Teams dress up in costumes and bring tents, chairs, beer, and hilarious signs to the beach for the event. LOS/NR cordially invites you to our next Opening Reception for "Framing Identity" highlighting the interplay between the intimate and the universal exploration of what defines us through the vision of four women artists—collaborative artists Katie Hargrave and Meredith Laura Lynn, photographer Hannah Altman and painter Jennifer Ruth Evans. The question of where self comes from has intrigued us for generations and theories have been established from Jung’s archetypes to Freud’s id, ego and superego to explain who we are and how self develops. The artists in this exhibition use the visual medium to explore personal, cultural and societal constructs of self. Their work unfolds as storytelling that investigates identity to spark a dialogue and foster deeper understanding of ourselves and our meaning. This is our Guest Curator Show running from March 8 to April 12, 2025, organized by Caleb Cain Marcus (MFA Columbia University.) Marcus has judged and participated as a reviewer for the Arnold New Prize, Critical Mass, Medium, LACP, NEPR and Review Santa Fe. He exhibited at the Ross Museum, the National Academy of Sciences in DC, Telluride Gallery of Fine Art, the Houston Center for Photography, Tufts Art Gallery, and Palm Beach Photo Center. His work is the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Getty Museum, the High Museum of Art, Norton Museum of Art, and Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and has been published widely including PDN, American Photo, Conde Nast Traveler, National Geographic, Orion and Audubon, Feature Shoot, Musee, Fraction, F-stop, Slate, Lens Culture, Smithsonian, My Modern Met and Hyperallergic.
