Please join San Diego Watercolor Society as they continue to celebrate their 60th Anniversary with an exciting presentation of “Cubism Revealed” by Bruce Haggarty on April 12, 2025, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., at the SDWS Gallery in the Arts District, Liberty Station. Bruce attended Tufts University, graduating with a degree in Art History and obtained his master’s degree at Boston University in Art History, specializing in American Art. He has taught art history at many local colleges and universities and has traveled the world extensively as a high-altitude photographer. He will give us an informative dialog on the history of Cubism and the artists who created a new way of looking at our world through shape, perspective and dimensions. "The 27 Club" presented by the Six String Society brings to life the legendary music & stories of Rock & Roll’s most infamous club. A club in which all the members share at least one thing in common; they all died tragically at the age of 27. People have wondered if they were ever all together and with the power of the audience’s imagination this occurs one evening in a mythical Greenwich Village apartment (circa 1969) the night before Woodstock. The candles burn late into the evening as these iconic figures begin to descend into the ‘Living Room.’ As the evening progresses, each icon performs their timeless songs with our signature group jam for the ages. Our All Star cast includes Whitney Shay (as Amy Winehouse), Lauren Leigh Martin (as Janis Joplin), Trevor James (as Jimi Hendrix), Tony Suraci (as Jim Morrison), Austin David (as Kurt Cobain), & Robin Henkel (as the spirit of Robert Johnson.) Learn the Art of Intarsia Woodworking! Saturday, May 10 or August 16, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Join us in the woodshop for this 5-hour intarsia woodworking workshop! Intarsia is a woodworking technique that involves the use of varied shapes of wood to create an image or pattern. In this class, we will cover shop safety and how to use a scroll saw, as well as best practices for sanding and finishing. Students will choose from a template to transfer to their wood, creating a mosaic-like decorative wall piece. Template options will be provided, and may be altered and edited based on skill level. At the end of the workshop, each student will leave with their own intarsia project. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron, but we have some for borrow if needed. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome.
