  • Margarita Behrens obtained her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University Autonoma in Spain. She is part of the Salk-team creating the single-cell epigenomic maps of the mouse a human brains funded by the NIH BRAIN Initiative. In this presentation, she will discuss this work in relation to brain maturation and the effects of aging. With a background in genomics, neurobiology and physiology, she studies the balance between activating and inhibiting neurons in brain circuitry, especially in the prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain responsible for decision-making and reasoning, from late pregnancy through adolescence.
