Word out of Iraq has been particularly worrisome these days, with increased fierce fighting between coalition forces and insurgents. Some observers believe Iraq is now in a civil war. Meanwhile, President Bush awaits the report from the Iraq Study Group led by James Baker and Lee Hamilton. Early leaks indicate the report will advocate gradual withdrawal of American troops on no particular timetable. Host Gloria Penner spoke recently with Ron Nehring, chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County who spent time in Iraq around Thanksgiving helping to train new Iraqi officials in parliament. In the past, Ron Nehring has taught campaign and communications strategy to officials in Bosnia and Haiti.
