For National Public Health Week, we talk with the county's interim public health director Wilma Wooten about the past century's achievements, and the 21st century's public health concerns. Subjects include what the county is doing about chronic disease and emerging concerns of pandemic influenza and bioterrorism. Also, the recent death of a Del Mar teenager due to meningitis, and the county's early showing of West Nile Virus in birds.
