Scientists Search for the Right Message to Prompt Public Action on Global Warming

Tom Fudge: Global warming is a matter of science, on one hand. But like many scientific discoveries, theories and advances, it's become a matter of politics. Today, the big question is not when we'll see the next advance in the study of global warming. The question is when the people of the developed world will be resolved to change their ways to stop global warming.

UCSD science historian Naomi Oreskes has studied the breadth of global warming research. She knows what the vast majority of scientists believe is happening. She's seen how some groups have worked to contradict the overwhelming scientific evidence. She's also drawn a few conclusions about what it will take for society to confront this issue.
