Gloria Penner on Challenges High Tech Businesses Face With Young Work Force

Tom Fudge: As the state of California decides how to balance its budget, education spending goes on the chopping block. It's too early to tell how much will be cut, and many groups have stepped up to say that the state cannot afford to cut education any more.
Among the people saying this are San Diegans who head up local high-tech companies. They say the shortage of young Californians who are well educated in science is forcing them to look overseas for employees. But even that isn't a good answer, given the shortage of American work visas for high tech employees.
