American Airlines cancelled flights in and out of San Diego for a third day today. Officials are inspecting the wiring on MD-80 jets after federal inspectors raised safety concerns. KPBS reporter Andrew Phelps met some stranded travelers at Lindbergh Field.
San Diegans can get to Boston, New York, and Chicago on American. But most flights to Dallas/Fort Worth were delayed or cancelled. That's a major connection to other destinations.
About a dozen young women in the West Hills High School choir sat at the airport for a second day. Alex Waterhouse says they were trying to make a performance in Toronto.
Waterhouse: We got phone calls from our choir director, and she said our flight has been cancelled, and she was here for three hours trying to find us a new flight so we would get to Toronto in time. The young women were happy to sing about their ordeal.
Choir: Yeah, it sucks / To be / On American Airlines. The choir managed to catch one of American's Boeing 767's to New York.
