The weekend was gruesome even by Tijuana's standards these days. Since the end of September, more than 280 people have been murdered, as drug cartels battle for control of the prime smuggling turf between Tijuana and San Diego.

The weekend's body count nudges the number of murders in Tijuana past 360 so far this year. That's more than all of last year.
