Thirty-four people were killed in Tijuana this weekend. A four-year-old boy, a thirteen-year-old and the state director of tourism's teenage nephew are among the dead.
Three Tijuana city police were found decapitated along with six others.
Another Tijuana policeman was killed when drug cartel gunmen ambushed a mechanic's shop.
The weekend was gruesome even by Tijuana's standards these days. Since the end of September, more than 280 people have been murdered, as drug cartels battle for control of the prime smuggling turf between Tijuana and San Diego.
The weekend's body count nudges the number of murders in Tijuana past 360 so far this year. That's more than all of last year.
