Antiques Roadshow: Madison, Wis. - Hour One

Airs Monday, July 9, 2012 at 9 p.m. on KPBS TV

Above: At ANTIQUES ROADSHOW in Madison, Wisconsin, this guest brings in a 1976 letter from legendary crooner Frank Sinatra to Chicago Daily News columnist Mike Royko. An enraged Sinatra is responding to the columnist’s unflattering jibes; in turn, Royko printed Sinatra’s letter, then auctioned it for charity. Appraiser Simeon Lipman delights the letter’s owner with his valuation of $15,000.

ANTIQUE ROADSHOW'S visit to Madison, Wisconsin, includes a detour with appraiser Wes Cowan to the Wisconsin Dells to discuss the late 19th-century stereoscopic photography of H.H. Bennett that made the Dells famous.
