Governor Brown: Taxes and STD's

What do taxes and STD’s have in common? California Governor Jerry Brown compared the two at a clean energy summit in Las Vegas Tuesday.

Brown said there’s a “massive disinvestment” on the part of government in public works projects and schools and he blamed it on the perception of taxes. “It’s a product of this notion that taxes are like some kind of sexually transmitted disease,” he said.

Governor Brown tried to convince several Republican lawmakers to vote to extend income, sales and vehicle tax increases as part of the state budget this year, but was unsuccessful. He’s now talking about going to the ballot in 2012 with some sort of tax measure. However, he’s not announced a specific proposal.
