The girls, La Osa, Nayeli’s mother and Tacho all go out to the lagoon for crab-catching. Nayeli and Yolo talk about Matt, and Nayeli confesses she kissed him when he was in town. The girls catch a female crab with her eggs plastered to her shell. They realize they can’t think of anybody who is pregnant in their town, an unusual occurrence. They cook and eat the crabs and ask the group if anyone in the town is pregnant. Tacho replies that you need men to make babies, which makes them realize all the men, who aren't elderly or children, have gone north.
