If Congress fails to make a deal on government spending before Friday, California will lose roughly $88 million in K-12 funding; $2.5 million to help the state respond to public health threats; $54 million for military bases; $5.4 million for programs like Meals On Wheels; and $400 million in civilian Defense Department cuts, resulting in 64,000 employees being furloughed.

The only way it affects me is I am happy that we finally reduced government spending a little bit. So, overall, it had a good affect on me.

Since the Federal Gov't has not cut actual spending in the modern era, only decreasing the rate of growth, we need to welcome moves like the sequester. And then we need to demand that the cuts be applied responsibly, not the fright-inducing, worst-case scenarios of a campaign fixated governing class. Let's not give cell phones to welfare moms and the thousands upon thousands of of similar gimmicks to the "wanters" in our country. Let's focus research on things that might have actual future value, not the sex lives of one legged purple spiders and the other ridiculous things we tax payers end up funding..
Let's keep front of mind: it ain't government money, honey - it's tax payer money!

EJohnB your wisdom is rare 'round these parts. Leftists mostly want to hold their hat out waiting for Robin Hood aka Obama to take some money from those darn rich people and give it to them.
