SeaWorld Bans Some Polystyrene, Plastic Products From Restaurants, Cafeterias

SeaWorld San Diego announced today it has eliminated polystyrene foam tableware and plastic flatware at its restaurants and employee cafeterias.

Polystyrene foam products are not biodegradable. They pile up in landfills or get scattered on beaches or oceans, harming marine life, SeaWorld officials said.

SeaWorld says the conservation move will have a positive impact because it serves millions of meals in the park each year.

"SeaWorld is proud to be a responsible steward of the environment, not just here in our park, but in the oceans and the world we share,'' said John Reilly, president of the park. "We hope our actions will inspire others to take similar steps that, combined, can make a huge difference.''

The park stopped handing out plastic shopping bags two years ago.

SeaWorld now uses bowls and plates made of molded fibers, flatware made of cornstarch and hot cups from recycled paper. All are biodegradable.

Great!

Maybe next they will ban the imprisoning of large sea mammals in the water equivalent of prison cells.

Sean World is a vile, evil place if one thinks about what they do to animals.

Force them to live in small tanks and force them to perform for squealing obnoxious tourists.

It's basically an animal prison camp.

West Hollywood joined other California cities this week, including Huntington Beach and Pasadena, in banning commercial exotic animal displays.

This should be a state law, but until them the San Diego City Council needs to enact this here.

The circus, Sea World and the like I prison and torture intelligent mammals like elephants and whales.

Any civil, society should put a stop to these crimes immediately.

Please join me in calling your city council person and encouraging them to do what WeHo did this week and ban this animal torture!!
