Jerry Sanders Wins the Race for Mayor

Former police chief Jerry Sanders is elected Mayor of San Diego Tuesday by winning with a 10 percent margin over Donna Frye.

Former police chief Jerry Sanders is elected Mayor of San Diego Tuesday by winning with a 10 percent margin over Donna Frye.

With 97 percent of the precincts reporting, Sanders had 142,709 votes or 54 percent, while Councilwoman Donna Frye had 120,267 votes or 46 percent.
