Tijuana police are searching for three more people who they suspect are connected to the suspected illegal cross-border adoption ring they discovered last weekend. The ring allegedly bought children in Tijuana and sold them in the United States. KPBS Reporter Amy Isackson has the story.
Tijuana police arrested a couple who had offered a Tijuana man $5,000 and a year's rent in exchange for his year-and-a-half old son. The couple confessed to working for two others who were also detained in Tijuana. One is a U.S. citizen, the other a legal permanent resident.
The group has told a Tijuana judge three more people work with them. Tijuana police are trying to find them.
Meanwhile, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are searching for three children who they suspect were sold to families in the United States. All are under two years old, and one is just a month and a half. Federal officials would not share details because they say the investigation is ongoing.
The Tijuana judge has must decide by Thursday whether to charge the suspects. Amy Isackson, KPBS news.
