San Diego County's Airport Authority is inviting the public to Mission Valley tonight, to learn about different proposals for a new regional airport. KPBS reporter Beth Ford Roth has more.
The airport authority is holding a town hall style meeting at the Scottish Rite Center in Mission Valley, starting at six p-m.
Authority board members will make a presentation about different areas they're examining as possible future airport locations. They will also take questions from the audience.
The authority has a summer deadline to recommend a replacement site for Lindbergh Field. That site or sites will then be put before voters in November for their approval or rejection.
The authority is much further along in looking at civilian sites than military locations. That's because it wasn't allowed to consider military sites until recently, when the federal government's Base Realignment and Closure Commission process ended. Beth Ford Roth, KPBS News.
