San Diego State University President Stephen Weber says despite the campus
growth spurt during his first 10 years at the school, he's planning for additional
expansion. KPBS Reporter Ed Joyce has more.
Weber is celebrating his 10th anniversary as university president. He's overseen
the development of at least 17 major building projects on or near the school. Speaking on the KPBS radio program These Days, he pointed to the addition of the San Diego Trolley
station as one example of a project that benefits the campus and the community.
Weber: We're taking somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 cars off of I-8 now because of that trolley, so it's very helpful. I hope I never have to build another parking garage on San Diego State, it's not the right way to use our space- -our space is very precious and very limited.
Weber says he'll continue to lead plans for more development, including faculty and graduate student housing near I-8.
