The immigration rallies planned today had a minimal impact at San Diego's Lowes Coronado Hotel. General Manager Kathleen Cochran says nearly half of the hotel's staff is Hispanic and about a third of her staff lives in Tijuana. She says 30 employees took her up on an offer to stay at the hotel overnight. She says she's pleased an overwhelming majority of her staff came to work. Cochran says she's been working for about a month to prepare for today.
Kathleen Cochran: We just let them know that we're very busy and their not coming in is gonna make it harder to serve our guests and that just hurts all of us.
Cochran says she encouraged workers to attend today's rallies, but to also show up for work. She says the night shift can attend the daytime rallies and the day shift can rally tonight.
