The city of San Diego has settled one of a dozen lawsuits involving the pension fund scandal. Mayor Sanders joined City Attorney Mike Aguirre and Council President Scott Peters to announce that the city will pay $173-million into the fund.
Today's tentative agreement settles a lawsuit brought by William McGwigan. He contended that the city did not pay enough into the pension system. The settlement covers underpayment for the years 1996 thru 2005. There are eleven other lawsuits still pending.
