County Supervisors Dianne Jacob and Ron Roberts make up a new county committee tasked with opening a dialogue with the Chargers in an effort to keep the team from leaving the San Diego region.

Roberts says while there's no specific plan, county officials want to "be ready if, and when, there's a proposal that would involve the county."

Jacob and Roberts recently met with Chargers' officials to talk about the possibility of locating a new stadium somewhere in San Diego County. The San Diego City Council recently voted to amend the Chargers' lease at Qualcomm Stadium to enable the team to look for a location to build a new facility beyond the city limits but still within the county.

The team is obligated to stay in San Diego through the 2008 season, but is free to relocate elsewhere in the country after that. Ed Joyce, KPBS News.
