San Diego's redevelopment agency has pushed back its time table indefinitely to approve the Navy Broadway project. KPBS reporter Alison St John has more.
Members of the Center City Development Agency are critical of the density and the design of the ambitious "Manchester Pacific Gateway" project on the Embarcadero. They voted to postpone approving the plan until after another public hearing, and creative input from local architects.
Board member Fred Maas says he wants to hear from the city council in September before voting on the bay front plan.
Maas: "I don't think we should be rushed, we, the board, the public or the city council because somebody is making business determinations that may or may not be correct given how important this is going to be for the next 100 or more years."
The developer, Dour Manchester, and the navy have an end of the year deadline to sign a lease, or risk the property returning to the Federal government
But the city's 1992 agreement with the navy sets no deadlines. Alison St John, KPBS news.
