Summerfest Encounters: A one-act opera and the International Sejong Soloists
KPBS joins the La Jolla Music Society's SummerFest 20th Anniversary Celebration by broadcasting SummerFest Encounters, hosted by Maureen Cavanaugh. Real people, real stories, stimulating conversation and musical performances, the Encounters go behind the scenes with some of today's most celebrated artists.
Guests:
- Edward Berkeley has a long resume in theatre and Opera. He is the director of undergraduate opera studies at Julliard and teaches Shakespeare at Circle in the Square theatre school in New York.
- Kenneth Merrill also teaches at Julliard, among his many other career endeavors. He is on the coaching faculty of the Julliard vocal arts department and often acts as musical director at the Julliard Opera theatre. Mr. Merrill is also a pianist who plays the harpsichord during this Summerfest Encounter.
