An assistant principal at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista was found dead in her home early this morning. KPBS reporter Ana Tintocalis says investigators consider it a homicide.
The woman is believed to be Eastlake assistant principal Diane Carpenter. A relative discovered Carpenter’s bloody body early this morning at her South Bay house and called police. Investigators say a trail of blood led from the front door to one of the bedroom where Carpenter was found. Investigators say a second trail of blood led them. But they lost that trail in a large bed of ice plant. Police say they’re looking for 26-year-old Kai Jammer Carpenter. He’s believed to be the son of the assistant principal. Family members say he is schizophrenic and was just released from a metal institution. Sweetwater Union High School District officials say a crisis team was sent to Eastlake High School to help students and staff cope with the loss. Ana Tintocalis, KPBS News.
